Mel's Shopping Diary
You are all Winners
June 04, 2008Woo! Poems are flooding in--so much fun to see! I’m not going to read any until the last day of the contest (June 20th!) since I want to read them all at the same time and make my decisions then.
And because EVERYONE is a winner in MY books, even if you don’t get to win the chapter sampler, if you simply entered the contest we will send you something good. No one writes a poem for nothing!
In answer to a commenter’s question -yes, even if you are in a foreign country you are free to join the contest! We ship airmail over here at the Meldlc offices.
I wrote a long and detailed BEA blog but I mistakenly closed that window before saving it. Ugh! So now you are getting the short version. Kathleen Duey! Elizabeth Scott! Neil Gaiman! I wore a Balenciaga floral dress and Louboutin glitter heels on Friday and a Trina Turk mod tunic and Proenza for Target white pants on Sunday.
Send in your poems!
xoxo
Mel

I’ve already done one poem. Poetry’s sooooo much fun. If I have any more epiphanys (or is it epiphanies?) I’m gonna right some more...otherwise I’ll probably just stick with the one I already sent.

i am working on my poems. i have about four different ones already. i know i’m not going to win because i never win anything, but i will most defently try my best. i am an amateur, so i’m a little shy about it. but if it is for a blue blood novel then i will never give up!

YIPEE! I’ve already sent in four, and my goal is twelve. As well as me, my two best friends are both entering, too. Compared to them, I really don’t think I’ll win, but hey, you gotta try, right? I’ve been writing since I was six (not well, mind you) and Blue Bloods has been a HUGE inspiration. It’s like comfort food, except in a book
. I LOVE DYLAN WARD! ... AND JACK!
AND OLIVER!
YAY!

you people know that sending too many in will only make it more confusing to get the winner tittle. hmm.thats my opinion any way. i’ve written two, and i think that thats plenty to write.

^^^ its probably better to write 2 GOOD ones than TWELVE bad ones lol. i spent alot of time on the two i sent in and i feel confident about them. A lot more confident than i would have if i sent 12 crappy ones…
On June 16, 2008 at 9:56 am, amanda smith had this to say:
yea. i feel the same way about mine.

@ Amanda Smith
The more the competition, the better :3. Melissa allowed us to submit unlimited poems. She should be ready for the hard judgment.

Response to Natalie’s comment:
TRUE, very true indeed. Two good poems is WAY better than twelve bad ones, but who said my 12 would be bad? I thought most of them were decent, at least. I misplaced my two favorites, though. :( If I find them now I’ll pull my hair out.
And to everyone who thought too many means too bad: sometimes, quality CAN coexist with quantity.
